I went to Cabelas this weekend because I needed "buckshot" to use as weights for a craft project. So I walk into the store and I head to the gun counter for direction. I proceed to tell the clerk that I do not hunt, I do not fish (
except for this one time), and I do not shoot things, but that I was looking for buckshot. He quickly tells me it's with the ammo and walks away. Yeah, thanks. That was helpful.

He was probably amazed that a girl with all her teeth was in there shopping! didn't know how to react..
Customer service is a long gone art. When I was younger and working at a retail auto parts chain, I was specifically told to ignore customers and I would get in trouble when I tried to help them.
A few years ago I walked into Van Wagenens to look at pistols one day. I patiently waited for a sales rep to be free. When one was, he looked me right in the eyes, stood up, turned his back and walked away. I left, never to return, and went to Gunnies where they took great care of me and I spent nearly $1,000 for two pistols.
Unfortunately people like us are rare. Like someone said at the parts store I worked at, "People always threaten to never come back. But they always do."
